Rajaa

2017

Rajaa is in her third and last year for a Licence diploma in networks and communication. She will do a two-month internship in the spring of 2017and then hopes to defend her thesis by the end of the year. Her grade average for her second year was a respectable 12,53/20. She would like to do a Master’s degree, but under our current policy we are unlikely to support her further. (Recommended by Mariam Ilboudo.)

2016

Rajaa Deme is progressing nicely, now in her second year of telecommunications. Her average last year was a respectable 12/20. She should get her Licence diploma next year. I doubt we would finance a Master’s degree unless her grades got much better. (A new policy.) (Day 8.)

Mariam has a niece, Rajaa, whom she urged us to help. At 18, Rajaa is our youngest beneficiary, a first-year student in telecommunications at the same university as Clarisse.

Rajaa’s Dad worked for a car rental agency, but has been unemployed for about five years. Her Mom works as an assistant at a pediatric hospital and earns 1,800,000 CFA a year (about $3,000). They have seven children; Rajaa is number three.

Rajaa and her parents.

Rajaa and her parents.

Rajaa speaks forcefully and confidently and has a lot of charm. We think she’s picked a good specialty.
